Responsibilities

How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.

  • Accurately prepare financial documents such as invoices and credit applications.
  • Verify financial statements, ledgers, and accounts, and apply corrections as necessary.
  • Manage day-to-day accounts payable transactions and oversee the internal workflow for purchase order and invoice approvals.
  • Conduct daily bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
  • Upload review, and approve payment runs, including BPays and international payments, ensuring supplier bank details are verified.
  • Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and other ad-hoc account reconciliations (e.g., GST, payroll liabilities).
  • Contribute to month-end close procedures, including journal preparation, reconciliations, and reporting tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial results.
  • Maintain documentation and registers for grant-related audit processes; ensure reporting aligns with grant milestone timelines.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency across finance operations.
  • Participate in AI and digital transformation initiatives across the Finance team, working to streamline workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Provide assistance to the Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, and CFO on financial projects, reporting, and ad hoc tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Chief Financial Officer.

Job requirements

Mandatory Qual ifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Accounting or related professional qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Accountants role.
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, budgeting, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information and financial data.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience on Grant related accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software, with Xero experience highly regarded.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
  • Current Australian Driver’s License
