Amber is on a path to move Australia and the world towards 100% renewable energy. To do this, we need to be able to automate, integrate, onboard and support a wide range of Energy OEM devices, like solar inverters, batteries and electric vehicles.

We're looking for an Energy OEM Integrations Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. You will be contributing code to support our hardware integrations, and well as communicating with both vendors and our customers as part of second-level technical support.

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior or graduate engineer looking to apply and grow their technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Code contributions to support new and existing hardware integrations
  • Creating integrations, onboarding, documentation and support experiences
  • Supporting our Operations team members to answer Smartshift queries, and working to prevent issues from becoming tickets in the first place
  • Monitoring, assessing, solving, and responding to escalated technical tickets relating to the Amber battery, solar and EV products.
  • Integrations outage first responder.

Job requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • At Amber, we want to hire self-starters who are eager to learn, and are comfortable working in a fast moving environment
  • You have a positive mindset: equal parts curious, collaborative, and can-do. You see challenges as opportunities, and like to drive outcomes regardless of the mechanism.
  • Equivalent tertiary qualification in Computer Science or Engineering; or prior professional programming experience; or significant demonstrable hobbyist/open source coding
  • Growing verbal and written communication skills, built on a foundation of empathy for your fellow humans is essential

Nice to haves

  • Some experience with languages sharing features with Typescript (such as JavaScript, C#, Go, or similar)
  • Help-desk or customer facing experience
  • Fluency in Chinese
  • Experience or interest in electronic circuits and systems
