Job description

Description

Come shape the future of education with us.

At Compass, we're transforming the way schools manage their day-to-day operations - from finance and payments to communication, events and administration. Clipboard, part of the Compass ecosystem, is transforming how schools manage extracurricular programs - from registrations and attendance through to communications and payments - helping schools run sports, music, clubs and everything else outside the classroom.

We combine the pace and ownership of a product-focused team with the scale and impact of a broader education technology ecosystem supporting thousands of schools globally.

We're now looking for a Product Owner to join our Clipboard team!

Responsibilities

About the Role & Team

You'll work closely with the Clipboard Product Manager to turn roadmap priorities into shipped products across Clipboard EMS and Clipboard Compete. It's a hands-on, high-agency role - you'll own delivery of your areas end-to-end and be accountable for the outcomes, not just the outputs.

You'll sit at the intersection of customers, business and engineering - staying close to schools using the product, translating between commercial stakeholders and engineers, and using AI tooling in your own workflow to move quickly from idea to shipped feature.

Deliver against the Clipboard roadmap

  • Turn the Clipboard roadmap and priorities into shipped work across Clipboard EMS and Clipboard Compete - from problem, through to shipped, through to success.
  • Report on progress so the team always knows what's shipping and what's blocked.
  • Work in fast cycles, breaking work into small increments and shipping iteratively rather than waiting on big releases.
  • Support how Clipboard connects and interfaces with other systems across the Compass Group.

Work across customers, business and engineering

  • Represent the product with customers directly - staying close to them, acting as the voice of the customer inside the business, and using that signal to validate the right bets quickly.
  • Talk credibly to business stakeholders and engineers, translating between the two.
  • Bring a working understanding of design and be comfortable making design calls.
  • Reason well across the four areas of product risk: value, viability, feasibility and usability.

Build and get things done

  • Bring a builder mindset - get concrete and hands-on, moving quickly to turn ideas into shipped products. You don't need to ship code, but you do need to get things done.
  • Add just enough process to move fast, without over-engineering it.
  • Use AI tooling in your own workflow to compress discovery, prototyping and delivery.

Support growth

  • Contribute to new logo growth for Clipboard, helping more schools discover and adopt the product.
  • Help expand the value Clipboard delivers to schools, deepening usage and growing Clipboard's footprint.
  • Help make Clipboard work seamlessly alongside the wider Compass suite, so schools get a connected, joined-up experience across their tools.

Requirements

About You

We're looking for someone with 1-3 years of product experience in SaaS, or equivalent experience as a designer, engineer or similar who's moving into product.

You will also have:

  • High energy and high agency - you think fast, move fast, adapt.
  • A clear, efficient, confident communicator - when you speak, people know exactly what you mean.
  • Genuine ability to own your work and be accountable for it, following things through to done rather than letting them drift to someone else.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed, with the instinct to add just enough structure without over-engineering it.
  • A working understanding of design, enough to make good calls on product decisions.
  • Fluency with AI tooling in a real build workflow.
  • Malleable and adaptable - you keep pace with change, adjust to shifting priorities, and get concrete rather than staying high-level.
