This role

We’re on the lookout for a creative powerhouse to jump in as Freelance Brand Design Lead for 2 months while our full-time lead takes a well-earned break. You’ll be joining our in-house creative crew and reporting to the Head of Creative and Design.

This is a short-term but high-impact gig, perfect for someone with the strategic chops, creative firepower, and leadership skills to keep things running smoothly and make some magic along the way.

You’ll lead a tight-knit, cross-functional design team of 10, drive major campaigns, and be the go-to for all things brand and creative across the Employment Hero universe. If you’re a self-starter who knows how to deliver standout design across digital, print, and whatever else comes your way, and you're seriously curious about AI, we’d love to chat.

Responsibilities

This will include

Design Leadership and Creative Direction

  • Take the reins on creative direction, keeping output high-quality and on-brand
  • Own concept development and campaign execution across digital, social, print, web, and more
  • Push boundaries with bold, strategic creative that speaks to the right audiences
  • Present ideas clearly to stakeholders and advocate for design thinking across the business
  • Collaborate with a talented team of designers, writers, marketers, and creative partners

Team Leadership

  • Step in as team lead to guide, mentor, and support the crew while the full-time lead is away
  • Build a collaborative, feedback-friendly vibe where great work can thrive

Project and Stakeholder Management

  • Keep projects on track, manage priorities, and problem-solve with ease
  • Partner with marketing, product, sales, and other teams to deliver strong creative
  • Facilitate workshops and drive ideation across internal and external groups

Operations and Process

  • Keep systems humming and empower others to create on-brand, high-quality work
  • Help refine workflows, bring fresh ideas to the table, and stay sharp on industry trends

  • 8+ years experience in design or creative, with 4+ years leading teams
  • A killer portfolio showing a range of standout work and smart thinking

  • Deep knowledge of design principles, digital-first thinking, and accessibility standards
  • Strong campaign experience across channels like social, OOH, and video
  • Expert in tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
