Are you our next Engineering Team Lead?

We’re on the lookout for an Engineering Team Lead to join Tracksuit to kick off an exciting new product offering. Initially this will be getting stuck into delivery, and will quickly progress into recruiting a full team.

You’ll be responsible for leading our engineering efforts, which includes:

⦿ Working with product and design: supporting product discovery, talking to customers, engaging with the wider business, shaping a team strategy, and collectively defining the roadmap.

⦿ Leading engineers: Recruiting, managing, mentoring, and coaching the engineers in the team.

⦿ Rituals and ways of working: Owning the rituals and processes within the team.

Responsibilities

That's the role. so who are you?

  • Based in Sydney and has 5+ years working in a similar role.
  • Experienced technical leader: Someone who is a developer, with experience across a range of technologies. These might include: React, NodeJS, Typescript, Java, Python, Postgres, CDK, and AWS (or another cloud provider) across different projects. You’ll have experience in designing, building, deploying and operating complex applications.
  • Entrepreneurial and product-focused: Someone who can think holistically and commercially: who takes an interest in the wider business. You’ll be able to collaborate with product managers, designers, and customers, as well as have the ability to focus on business outcomes and engage in discovery, not just implementation.
  • Experimental: Someone comfortable testing and iterating on ideas using a structured approach. You’ll have demonstrated experience assessing multiple solutions for a problem with various implementation approaches, and you’ll be data driven to guide your recommendations.
  • Curious and a leader: You’ll be curious to discover new opportunities, grasp new technologies, and figure out whatever you need to drive growth. You’ll be a leader for other engineers in the team and be able to support and drive a team technically and commercially; You’ll have experience in coaching developing, and managing engineers, as well as having demonstrated ability to prioritise work.
  • Kind: This is such a collaborative role that we ultimately want a great, collaborative and supportive team player.

Job requirements

We think this role is exciting because:

  • You’ll have ownership over decisions to design the technical solutions that work: You’ll be responsible for architecting and designing scalable, reliable, and secure systems.
  • You’ll be able to think entrepreneurially, focused on business outcomes: You’re not just shipping features. You’re working in team to drive acquisition and activation. That means you get to create a strategy, think holistically, and do whatever is needed to drive an outcome.
  • You get to be experimental: designing experiments, trying new approaches to solve problems, talking to customers, doing discovery, sitting alongside product and design, and implementing solutions.
  • We don’t have a roadmap dictated to us: you’ll have high-level business goals and outcomes, but it’s up to you to define the problems and solutions.
