The Opportunity

We’re seeking a dynamic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead and scale our global finance operations. This is a critical leadership role with responsibility for overseeing Tax, Payroll, Financial Reporting, and Transaction Services across our international footprint.

Managing a team of 4 direct reports in Sydney and 15 indirect reports in Manila, you’ll play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, driving process improvement, and supporting commercial decision-making as we continue our rapid global expansion.

Key Responsibilities

As Financial Controller, you will:

  • Lead a Global Finance Function: Manage and mentor high-performing teams across Sydney and Manila, ensuring smooth delivery of global finance operations aligned with compliance requirements in Australia, the UK, Germany, and Japan.
  • Financial Governance & Compliance: Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with international and local standards. Ensure tax and payroll compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Scalable Systems & Controls: Drive continuous improvement through automation, systems enhancements, and scalable processes that support our global growth.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with business leaders across markets and functions (e.g., People, Legal, Commercial) to align finance operations with company strategy and market-specific needs.
  • Strategic Finance Support: Provide analytical insights and robust financial controls to support business planning, investment decisions, and international expansion strategies.
  • Risk & Internal Controls: Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks and ensure audit readiness across all geographies.

Job requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • CPA or CA qualification with 8+ years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in a multinational or high-growth tech-enabled environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-border finance teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of global accounting standards, tax regimes, and payroll compliance, particularly across Australia, the UK, Germany, and Japan.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational execution.
  • Passion for team development, cultural leadership, and building collaborative, cross-border finance functions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite, with a strong understanding of automation and process improvement.
